Title: Studying Photonic Crystal Devices Using Linear and Non Linear Media
Abstract
This thesis discusses the Photonic
Crystals structures. Photonic crystals are periodic dielectric or
metallo-dielectric structures that are designed to control the propagation of
electromagnetic waves in the same way as the periodic potential in a
semiconductor crystal affects the electron motion by defining allowed and
forbidden electronic energy bands. First the theory of Photonic Crystals is
explained then the linear structures and some of their applications are
explained. Finally nonlinear structures are studied with the hard optical
limiter.
